I am so excited.....During the Feast of Dedication (Hanukkah) Yeshua walked into the temple and announced: "I and My Father are one" Amen! We are going to: decorate, sing songs, fellowship, and, play games this evening. (***The Feast of Dedication doesn't start until the end of November but I am ready to make this home festive!) Hanukkah/ The Feast of Dedication is NOT one of the Appointed Times, we are commanded to keep. Yet, we find Yeshua in the Temple during the Feast of Dedication/Hanukkah. John made it clear that Yeshua made the trip to the Temple in winter during the Feast (John 10:22) about 3 days of travel time to make that trip. This Feast is in commemoration of a historical event, which points to Yeshua as the ultimate victor over evil. Yeshua was asked against the backdrop of this Feast if He was the Messiah. Yeshua chose this time to announce that He is the light of the world, which is the major theme of The Feast of Dedication, also known as the Festival of Lights. Christmas and/or Easter are an attempt to replace the Appointed Times with Pagan practices and symbolism. They are the syncretism of pagan traditions, themes, and images with Biblical events. Hanukkah is a commemoration of a historical event, similar to celebrating Thanksgiving or Independence Day. One must not include pagan images used in worshipping false gods (sun worship) or syncretize/harmonize in any of our celebrations. Mark 7:7-9 states that we are not to disregard the Commandments for our traditions. Don't ignore or replace the LORD’s Appointed Times with pagan days and traditions, "They worship Me in vain; they teach as doctrine the precepts of men. Amen "For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness," is the One who has shone in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Messiah." 2 Cor 4:6 TLV Blessings and Shalom in the Name of Yeshua Messiah!

If you love Me, you will keep My commandments- Yeshua (JN 14:15) TLV
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, so also you must love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” JN 13:34-35 TLV If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it shall be done for you. In this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be My disciples. JN 15:7-8 TLV Now I make known to you, brothers and sisters, the Good News which I proclaimed to you. You also received it, and you took your stand on it, and by it you are being saved if you hold firm to the word I proclaimed to you—unless you believed without proper consideration. For I also passed on to you first of all what I also received-- that Messiah died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that He appeared to Kefa, then to the Twelve. 6 Then He appeared to over five hundred brothers and sisters at one time-- most of them are still alive, though some have died. 7 Then He appeared to Jacob, then to all the emissaries, 8 and last of all, as to one untimely born, He also appeared to me. 1 Cor 15: 1-8 TLV Now for this very reason, making every effort, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, patience; and to patience, godliness; 7 and to godliness, brotherly love; and to brotherly love, love. 8 For if these qualities are in you and increasing, they keep you from becoming idle and unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah. 9 But anyone who lacks these qualities is blind—nearsighted because he has forgotten his cleansing from past sins. 10 Therefore, brothers and sisters, make all the more effort to make your calling and election certain—for if you keep doing these things, you will never stumble. 11 For in this way entry into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Messiah Yeshua, will be richly provided for you. 2 Pet 1: 5-10 TLV How do we do this? Yeshua taught as the living Word/Torah that the action of obedience to GOD is equivalent to LOVE. Because we do sin and transgress the Torah/law God again made provision to help us in our weaknesses: "Everyone who keeps sinning is violating Torah — indeed, sin is violation of Torah." 1 JN 3:4 God in His great mercy and compassion gave says: Ezekiel 36:26-27 Moreover I will give you a new heart. I will put a new spirit within you. I will remove the stony heart from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Ruach (Spirit) within you. >>>>then I will cause you to walk in My laws, so you will KEEP My rulings and DO them. <<<<<
Blessings and Shalom in the Name of Yeshua Messiah! Shema Israel, ADONAI Eloheinu, ADONAI Echad 4 “Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 Love Adonai your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These words, which I am commanding you today, are to be on your heart. 7 You are to teach them diligently to your children, and speak of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down and when you rise up. 8 Bind them as a sign on your hand, they are to be as frontlets between your eyes, 9 and write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. Deut. 6:4-9 TLV Let us establish that there is native Israel and those grafted into Israel: "But if some of the branches were broken off and you--being a wild olive—were grafted in among them and became a partaker of the root of the olive tree with its richness, do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, it is not you who support the root but the root supports you." Romans 11:17-18 TLV He chose us in the Messiah before the foundation of the world, to be holy and blameless before Him in love. 5 He predestined us for adoption as sons through Messiah Yeshua, in keeping with the good pleasure of His will— 6 to the glorious praise of His grace, with which He favored us through the One He loves! Ephesians 1:4-6 TLV AMEN, HALLELUYAH!!!
Shama/ Shema or {HEAR} in english does not simply mean to listen as we can see it is to be: obedient, careful, "cause to" obey, to be diligent etc the image to the left there is from Strong's Concordance. This is to allow the words to sink in, provide understanding, and generate a response. In other words, in Hebrew, “hearing” and “doing” are basically the same thing, What is the 1st instruction given after the announcement and proclamation the "Lord our God is One" VS 5-> Love Adonai your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. Similarly we see that Yeshua as the --" the Word became flesh and tabernacled among us. We looked upon His glory, the glory of the one and only from the Father, full of grace and truth." John 1:14 TLV What does He say? (Yeshua challenged the Sadducees’ lack of belief that the dead will rise again with a quote from the Torah: “And as for the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was said to you by God: ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not God of the dead, but of the living.” (Matthew 22:31-32, Mark 12:26-27, Luke 20:37-38) This was taken directly from Exodus 3:6 when God told Moses who He is: And he said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God. Shortly after Yeshua’s encounter with the Sadducees regarding the resurrection, a lawyer put him to the test by asking what the greatest commandment of the Law is. Yeshua replied: And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 22:37-40) Yeshua echoed Deuteronomy 6:5 and Leviticus 19:18. While the Torah has “all your might,” in Matthew, Yeshua said “all your mind.” Yeshua exhorted those who listened to His teachings about deeper obedience unto the motives of the heart and mind. Not a lesser obedience. by Rich Robinson | May 16 2017) **If you love Me, you will keep My commandments- Yeshua (JN 14:15) TLV
How do we do that? The Shema is about a deeper consideration of scripture and putting commandments/instruction into action. <<<<<
6 These words, which I am commanding you today, are to be on your heart. 7 You are to teach them diligently to your children, and speak of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down and when you rise up.
> when you walk by the way > when you lie down and when you rise up. To be on your heart in this sense is to "think on" His commandments. Follow through those thoughts with actions again.
Everyone's unique relationship with Abba Yah will vary slightly depending on where they are in growth and understanding. Everything is not revealed to us all at once or it would be overwhelming. Even a "babe in the faith" will show evidence of fruit:
“You have heard that our fathers were told, ‘Do not murder,’ and that anyone who commits murder will be subject to judgment. But I tell you that anyone who nurses anger against his brother will be subject to judgment; that whoever calls his brother, ‘You good-for-nothing!’ will be brought before the Sanhedrin ; that whoever says, ‘Fool!’ incurs the penalty of burning in the fire of Gei-Hinnom (hell) ! So if you are offering your gift at the Temple altar and you remember there that your brother has something against you, leave your gift where it is by the altar, and go, make peace with your brother. Then come back and offer your gift. If someone sues you, come to terms with him quickly, while you and he are on the way to court; or he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the officer of the court, and you may be thrown in jail! Yes indeed! I tell you, you will certainly not get out until you have paid the last penny. “You have heard that our fathers were told, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that a man who even looks at a woman with the purpose of lusting after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. (Mat) 5:21-28 CJB
1) We are not under the law.." >>> What does that mean?
What a privelage!
This is where we "come out from among them," because this is a relationship, a lifestyle, a life laid down from self to consistently LIFT HIM UP. We don't set aside 2 minutes to talk to our spouse 3x a day before we eat or a mere 1 hour or 45 minutes once a week. Because they wouldn't feel appreciated or valued that way. How much more valuable is YHWH? We will never have a perfect walk while in the flesh but we can strive daily to give Him just a little bit more of our time, our thoughts, our prayers today than we did yesterday. That walk will look slightly different for you than it does for me. But a healthy walk will challenge you to keep "pressing toward the upward call of God in Messiah Yeshua" - Phil 4:13 TLV As we roll into Shabbat may you and your family have a blessed time of rest and renewal in the Word and in time spent with our KING. Shabbat Shalom! {click the link for worship music: Joshua Aaron - Salvation is Your Name (feat. Mike Weaver) Jerusalem Hills Lyric Video - YouTube} Love y'all What did Yeshua teach? Torah. The "New Testament" Or 2nd Testament had not been written. I cannot say for certain but based on the way the majority of western churches teach the Bible it seems the vast majority have overlooked or forgotten this point because WE are accustomed to having the Bible with a 1st and 2nd Testament. But when Yeshua walked the earth there was only 1 Testament and He taught from it both publicly and privately with His disciples. If you denounce and refuse Torah as the instructions of God you are refusing Yeshua who is the Word made flesh: And the Word became flesh and tabernacled among us. We looked upon His glory, the glory of the one and only from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14 TLV Yeshua kept Torah perfect bc He is without spot or blemish. Why? >>Messiah liberated us from Torah’s curse, having become a curse for us<< (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”)-- Galatians 3:13 TLV [ He did not liberate us from the instructions of God in the law but from the CURSE of the law] From start to finish, the New Testament contains quotations, references, allusions, and paraphrases of the Old Testament. taught, and served. Below, are many references to the Old or 1st Testament that Yeshua spoke in the gospels. The Torah is the foundation of scripture, and Yeshua quoted it often. After Yeshua’s baptism, he was taken into the wilderness where he was tempted by Satan. He responded to each temptation by quoting from the Torah, showing the supreme value he placed on it for life, thought, and behavior. When Satan tempted him with food, he responded: “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God,’” quoting directly from Deuteronomy 8:3 (Matthew 4:4). When Satan told him to jump from the top of the Temple, he quoted Deuteronomy 6:16: “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test’” (Matthew 4:7). Finally, when Satan told Yeshua to worship him, Yeshua quoted Deuteronomy 6:13, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve’” (Matthew 4:10). The Sermon on the Mount References: The Sermon on the Mount contains a set of ethical instructions taken straight from the Hebrew Scriptures. Each time, Yeshua began by saying “You have heard that it was said…” and then contrasted it with “…but I say.” He was not contradicting the Torah, about which he said, “It is written.” The phrase “You have heard that it was said” referred to popular understandings of the Torah—the way it was understood and applied, the way people learned it from their parents and teachers, and the way it was repeated in daily conversations. Sometimes that was identical to the Torah, yet the basis of those understandings was always the text of the Torah. Yeshua upheld the commands of Exodus 20:13 when he said, “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment’” (Matthew 5:21). This pattern is repeated when Yeshua quoted commandments concerning adultery (Exodus 20:14, Deuteronomy 5:18, Matthew 5:27), divorce (Matthew 5:31, Deuteronomy 24:1), and swearing falsely (Matthew 5:33, Numbers 30:2, Deuteronomy 23:21). Yet, Yeshua exhorted those who listened to is teachings about deeper obedience. For example, he called to mind Exodus 21:23-25 “But if there is harm, then you shall pay life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.” To that, Yeshua said: “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you (Matthew 5:38-42). Teaching on Honoring Parents Yeshua quoted from the Torah to make his point that many often neglected to keep the commandment to honor one’s parents out of self-interest. Instead of contradicting the Torah, Yeshua boldly pointed out the ways that those who are condemning Him have fallen short: Then Pharisees and scribes came to Yeshua from Jerusalem and said, “Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat.” He answered them, “And why do you break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition? For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.’ But you say, ‘If anyone tells his father or his mother, “What you would have gained from me is given to God,” he need not honor his father.’ So for the sake of your tradition you have made void the word of God.” (Matthew 15:1-6) This echoed the command of the Exodus to “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.” (Exodus 20:12, Exodus 21:17) Jesus and the Ten Commandments In Matthew 19:16-20, Yeshua conversed with a young man who asked him the way to eternal life. Yeshua replied that he must keep the commandments: “‘You shall not murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother, and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ The young man said to him, ‘All these I have kept. What do I still lack?’ Yeshua told him to sell all he has, give to the poor, and follow him.” Yeshua clearly echoes back to Exodus 20:12-16: “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you. You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.” Yeshua challenged the Sadducees’ lack of belief that the dead will rise again with a quote from the Torah: “And as for the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was said to you by God: ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not God of the dead, but of the living.” (Matthew 22:31-32, Mark 12:26-27, Luke 20:37-38) This was taken directly from Exodus 3:6 when God told Moses who He is: And he said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God. Shortly after Yeshua’s encounter with the Sadducees regarding the resurrection, a lawyer put him to the test by asking what the greatest commandment of the Law is. Not a lesser obedience. by Rich Robinson | May 16 2017 Be blessed in Messiah Yeshua friends! Hello again everyone! I hope your week is off to a good and productive start. This is a topic that has come up numerous times as of late with questions and debates.... So I made a 2 part little mini-series to address it. Did Yeshua/Jesus teach Torah? Yes. The Ten Commandments? Yes. “Why are you asking me about good? There is One who is good! But if you want to obtain eternal life, observe the mitzvot/commandments .” The man asked him, “Which ones?” and Yeshua said, “Don’t murder, don’t commit adultery, don’t steal, don’t give false testimony honor father and mother and love your neighbor as yourself.”(Mat) 19:17-19 CJB Yeshua said to them, “Yes. I tell you that in the regenerated world, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones and judge the twelve tribes of Isra’el. Everyone who has left houses, brothers, sisters, father, mother, children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times more, and he will obtain eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first. (Mat) 19:28-30 CJB “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. *Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.* Matthew 5:17-19 NKJV {Yeshua plainly said He did not come to “destroy” the law. The Greek word translated destroy (Greek, katalyo) can also be translated “dissolve,” “demolish,” “abrogate” or “deprive of force.”} Instead of abolishing the law, He came to fulfill (pleroo) it—which means to “make full,” “fill up” or “accomplish) He fulfilled/accomplished the law in that He never broke it. He is SINLESS, (sin=lawlessness) thus taking the curse of the Torah/law that we, who believe, would not be under the curse any longer. - - -Rom7: 22 For in my inner self I COMPLETELY agree with God's Torah/law
[He will]! — through Yeshua the Messiah, our Lord! To sum up: with my mind, I am a slave of God’s Torah ; but with my old nature, I am a slave of sin’s “ Torah .” Romans (Rom) 7:24-25 CJB------
Galatians (Gal) 3:13 CJB And in our new nature “ ‘This is the covenant which I will make with them after those days,’ says Adonai : ‘I will put my Torah on their hearts, and write it on their minds . . . ” (Heb) 10:16 CJB One of the major problems with the Pharisees’ traditions was that they often led to the abuse and mistreatment of other people. For example, in Matthew 23 Yeshua strongly rebuked them for putting unnecessary burdens on people (verse 4), abusing widows (verse 14), neglecting justice and mercy (verse 23) and even being complicit in the murder of righteous men (verse 34-35). In another place, He scolded them for inventing a loophole that allowed them to avoid caring for their elderly parents (Mark 7:11-13). The main flaw was neglecting to show love to their fellow man. 1) We are not under the law.." What does that mean?
‐---------‐------------------------------------------------------------- Romans 2:13 For it is not the hearers of Torah who are righteous before God; rather, it is the doers of Torah who will be justified. .. Rom 3:31 Do we then nullify the Torah through faithfulness? May it never be! On the contrary, we uphold the Torah. . Romans 8: 5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Ruach set their minds on the things of the Ruach. Romans 6-8 For the mindset of the flesh is death, but the mindset of the Ruach is life and shalom. For the mindset of the flesh is hostile toward God, for it does not submit itself to the law of God—for it cannot. So those who are in the flesh cannot please God... Speaking of new covenant- Ezekiel 36:26-27 Moreover I will give you a new heart. I will put a new spirit within you. I will remove the stony heart from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Ruach within you. Then I will cause you to walk in My laws, so you will keep My rulings and do them. Matt 7:21-23 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord!’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in Your name, and drive out demons in Your name, and perform many miracles in Your name?’ Then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you. Get away from Me, you workers of lawlessness!" (Peter warns about mistaking Paul's words 2Pe 3:16-18 16 as also in all his letters, speaking in them concerning these matters, in which some are hard to understand, which those who are untaught and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do also the other Scriptures. 17 You, then, beloved ones, being forewarned, watch, lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the delusion of the lawless, 18 but grow in the favour and knowledge of our Master and Saviour יהושע Messiah. To Him be the esteem both now and to a day that abides. Amĕn. .......... Romans 7:12 So that the Torah truly is set-apart, and the command set-apart, and righteous, and good. 13 Therefore, has that which is good become death to me? Let it not be! But the sin, that sin might be manifest, was working death in me through what is good, so that sin through the command might become an exceedingly great sinner. 14 For we know that the Torah is Spiritual, but I am fleshly, sold under sin. .......... Everyone who keeps sinning is violating Torah — indeed, sin is violation of Torah . (1 JN) 3:4 CJB Romans 6:1 What, then, shall we say? Shall we continue in sin (transgress the law), to let favour increase? 2 Let it not be! How shall we who died to sin a still live in it?.---- I hope part 1 has been a blessing to you and maybe been a stepping stone to seeking out the Truth more. All in all be blessed in Messiah Yeshua friends and scattered family! Part 2 will close out the week! If you have more questions this addresses some common questions and may be helpful click the link: Q & A #2 (pursuingtheupwardcall.com) Focus points:: [Judgment, teaching rebuking, exhortation, convincing] Any believer should first examine themselves for sin and repent. But we are told in scripture: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations....teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you." -Matt 28:20 John 7:24 which teaches us "Do not judge according to appearance, but with *righteous judgment" -> Matt. 7:15-16 Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheeps clothing but are ravenous wolves. YOU WILL KNOW THEM BY THEIR FRUITS (<- you make a judgment* by their fruits...their actions, the words they speak etc and compare it to the Word of God incorruptible and of absolute truth.) And again: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.2 Tim 4:2. Key words: Convince, rebuke, and exhort. (And teaching) To convince there has to be a disagreement. CONVINCE-ie:verb cause (someone) to believe firmly in the truth of something. REBUKE is a correction.verb express sharp disapproval or criticism of (someone) because of their behavior or actions. And EXHORT, exhorting; the act of inciting to laudable deeds; incitement to that which is good or commendable. As believers we are instructed to #1 examine yourself and repent. # 2 SHARE the gospel with unbelievers to repent (which is to acknowledge by judgment via scripture that humans are in sin in need of salvation and correction) #3 beware of false teachers also requiring judgment comparing said person against the Word of God. #4 clearly outlines we as believers are to: correct, rebuke, and encourage or exhort believers. Throughout Paul's letters, he had words of correction and rebuke for his readers, to the point of calling the Galatians "foolish" and saying they had been "bewitched" (Galatians 3:1). Was he being judgmental? [Where does this judgment come from....It comes from God Himself. See JN 1:1 God is the Word. Repeating the Word is utilizing what God has already said & already made a judgment upon] -----When speaking the Word causes offense it is God Himself who someone is finding offensive.--- Matt 24:10-12->And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold----Yeshua
"The spiritual person judges all things" (1 Corinthians 2:15)And Hebrews 5:14"But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish* good from evil." Yes we are to use discernment to make judgments on the truthfulness, character and integrity of others for our own safekeeping and in cases of correction and rebuke. IN CLOSING: To the unbeliever deliver the msg of the GOSPEL to those who claim the body of Messiah: teaching, correction, rebuke and exhortation are Biblically sound instructions and directions given by God. If any remain unsure.. the Word says, "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you"- James 4:7 Study to show yourself approved. 2 Tim. 2:15 Tonight is the start of Shabbat...so in advance SHABBAT SHALOM friends and scattered family enjoy this time of blessed rest with Abba Yah. |
