Hello scattered family and friends in Messiah! I hope you all are doing well. ROM 15:13 'May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as YOU TRUST in Him so that you may overflow[ie:*to pour over the limits or fill beyond capacity-] with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (my emphasis) ~~ I love when YHWH shows forth these little gems- I included part of the dictionary definition of "overflow" into the scripture for a deeper understanding. Let that sink in- your responsibility is to "trust in Him" SO THAT "you may overflow" or be filled beyond holding capacity-with HOPE by the power of the Holy Spirit! Hello scattered family and friends in Messiah! I hope you all are doing well. Hanukkah is nearly upon us! Let the countdown begin. For historical reference: The first book of Maccabees (I Maccabees 4: 52–59) describes the ceremonies as lasting for eight days: Early in the morning on the twenty-fifth day of the ninth month, which is the month of Kislev, [164 BCE], they [the Maccabees] rose and offered sacrifice, as the law directs, on the new altar of burnt offering which they had built…There was very great gladness among the people, and the reproach of the gentiles was removed. Then Judah and his brothers and all the assembly of Israel determined that every year at that season the days of dedication of the altar should be observed with gladness and joy for eight days, beginning with the twenty-fifth day of the month of Kislev. This was probably intended to mirror Solomon’s dedication of the First Temple (I Kings 8:1–2), which took place during the eight-day holiday of Sukkot: Then King Solomon summoned into his presence at Jerusalem the elders of Israel, all the heads of the tribes and the chiefs of the Israelite families, to bring up the ark of the Lord’s covenant from Zion, the City of David. All the men of Israel came together to King Solomon at the time of the festival [of Sukkot] in the month of Ethanim (Tishrei), the seventh month. This book is about renewing the Temple cult and cleansing the Temple from defilement. The second book of the Maccabees (II Maccabees 1:1–36) describes Hanukkah as a Sukkot of the winter and as a “festival of the fire.” Shabbat Shalom scattered family in Messiah! Self evaluation: are you walking through life hurriedly, anxious, feeling burdened? striving, v: exert oneself vigorously, making great efforts to achieve or obtain something vs Striding, v:walking with long decisive steps in a specific direction. Stop striving : "Come to Me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."-Matt 11: 28 If you hold His hand and walk in pace with Him. You won't feel rushed, anxious, overwhelmed... "He continued walking" through the panic, bustle, surge of emotions etc around Him. He kept His stride...and walked. striving, v: exert oneself vigorously, making great efforts to achieve or obtain something vs Striding, v: walking with long decisive steps in a specific direction. Stop striving; see the story of Jairus and his dying daughter (Mark 5:21-43) Jairus came to Yeshua rightly concerned and emotional...in all that was around Yeshua and a woman within the crowd was also seeking healing and touched Yeshua , taking his attention away from Jairus momentarily.... Yeshua never got anxious, rushed etc. While in the crowd and bustle Jairus rcvd word his daughter had died... can you imagine? Vs 36 As soon as Yeshua heard the word that was spoken, He said to Jairus, "Do not be afraid, only believe." Yeshua NEVER broke His pace, He didn't panic and run towards the house... "He continued walking...." vs 40-41 they ridiculed Him...He took the mother and father of the child, and those who were with Him, and entered where the child was lying. Then He took the child by the hand and said to her, "Little girl, I say to you, arise" Immediately the girl rose and walked... And the shalom of YHWH which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Messiah Yeshua. - Phil 4:7 Be still and know that I AM God. These are some pictures from Tabernacles/Sukkot fun!
"Leviticus 23 is about the Feast of Tabernacles.--a tabernacle is a temporary place to live. it is like a tent except it is made from wood or branches. ---the first and eighth day of this feast is a Sabbath" "Jesus (Yeshua) was born during this feast week. Jesus (Yeshua) celebrated the Feast of tabernacles, and Zechariah 14:16 says that someday, all nations will celebrate the feast!" Anyone new to the Feast of Tabernacles, also known as Sukkot. Here is a simple explanation of it; It's a rehearsal for a future event where Yeshua will Tabernacle with us again, which simply means be with us.

Stop in for a visit, invite a friend. Hope to see you all there! Hello scattered family and friends in Messiah! I hope you all are doing well. Well having spent my former years in an Assembly of God church and having a foundation there. This issue plagued me for many years as it was incorrectly taught. I'm sure it does others as well. Abba did some teaching/correcting me in my fears that were instilled from the way this was taught. Over the years as I have become more and more "Berean minded." It's not really as complicated as all that. Let us plainly just read what Scripture says about the crowd : "*** hearing them speaking in his own language.***"- So let's dive in with Scripture and a trusty STRONGS concordance: They were all filled with the Ruach ha-Kodesh and began to speak in other tongues as the Ruach enabled them to speak out. Now Jewish people were staying in Jerusalem, devout men from every nation under heaven. And when this sound came, the crowd gathered. They were bewildered, ***because each was hearing them speaking in his own language.*** And they were amazed and astonished, saying, “All these who are speaking—aren’t they Galileans? ****How is it that we each hear our own birth language? ****Acts 2: 5-8
These languages are foreign natural languages that were all present in that place. As men from every nation under heaven were present. This gift helped/helps spread the gospel.
Study as a Berean. vs 11 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and parts of Libya toward Cyrene, and visitors from Rome (both Jewish people and proselytes), Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring >>* in our own tongues* << the mighty deeds of God!” And they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to each other, “What does this mean?” Peter said to them, “Repent, and let each of you be immersed in the name of Messiah Yeshua for the removal of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Ruach ha-Kodesh. For the promise is for you and your children, and for all who are far away—as many as Adonai our God calls to Himself.” With many other words he warned them and kept urging them, saying, “Save yourselves from this twisted generation!” So those who received his message were immersed, and that day about three thousand souls were added. Acts 2: 38-41 (No mention of tongues, about 3000 souls saved)
But many who heard the message believed, and the number of the men came to about five thousand.-Acts 4:4 (No mention of speaking in tongues for those who believed, about 5000) When they had prayed, the place where they were gathered was shaken. And they were all filled with the Ruach ha-Kodesh and began to speak the word of God with boldness. Acts 4:31
So then, brothers and sisters, we do not owe anything to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Ruach you put to death the deeds of the body, you shall live. For all who are led by the Ruach Elohim, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall again into fear; rather, you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Ruach Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. And if children, also heirs—heirs of God and joint-heirs with Messiah—if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him. Rom 8:10-14
Scripture always agrees with Scripture and is consistent: What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, has found? For if Abraham was set right by works, he has something to boast about—but not before God. For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” Romans 4:1 -3 There are various kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are various kinds of working, but the same God who works all things in all people. But to each person is given the manifestation of the Ruach for the benefit of all. For to one is given through the Ruach a word of wisdom, to another a word of knowledge according to the same Ruach, to another faith by the same Ruach, to another gifts of healings by the one Ruach, to another workings of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. >But one and the same Ruach activates all these things, distributing to each person individually as He wills < 1 Cor 12: 5-11
For the body is not one part, but many. If the foot says, “Since I’m not a hand, I’m not part of the body,” is it therefore not part of the body? And if the ear says, “Since I’m not an eye, I’m not part of the body,” is it for this reason any less part of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where would the sense of smell be? But now God has placed the parts—each one of them—in the body just as He desired. If they were all one part, where would the body be? But now there are many parts, yet one body. 1 Cor 12: 12-19 The individual gifts given are exemplified as a blessing to each person for the benefit of all. All do not have the same gift.
Now you are the body of Messiah, and members individually. God has put into His community first emissaries, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then healings, helps, leadership, various kinds of tongues. All are not emissaries, are they? All are not prophets, are they? All are not teachers, are they? All do not work miracles, do they? All do not have gifts of healing, do they? All do not speak in tongues, do they? All do not interpret, do they? But earnestly desire the greater gifts. And still I show you a far better way-1 Cor 12:27-31 * Read 1 Cor 13 the chapter on LOVE, the "far better way"* While on the topic of 1 Cor 13:1-3 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.
The eye cannot tell the hand, “I don’t need you!” or in turn the head to the feet, “I don’t need you!” On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be less important are indispensable. Those parts of the body that we think to be less honorable, we clothe with greater honor; and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty; but our presentable parts have no such need. Rather God assembled the body, giving more honor to those who are lacking, so that there may be no division in the body, but so that the parts may have the same care for one another. If one part suffers, all the parts suffer together. If one part is honored, all the parts rejoice together. 1 Cor 12: 21-26 Philip went down to the main city of Samaria and proclaimed the Messiah to them. The crowds were paying close attention to what Philip was saying—as they both heard and saw the signs that he was doing. For unclean spirits were coming out of many who were plagued, shrieking with a loud voice. Many paralyzed and crippled were healed also. So there was great joy in that city. Now a man named Simon had been practicing magic in the city and astonishing the people of Samaria, saying he was someone great. 1They all were paying special attention to him, saying, “This man is the power of God that is called ‘Great.’” And they kept paying attention to him, because for a long time he had astonished them with his magical arts. But when they believed Philip proclaiming the Good News about the kingdom of God and the name of Messiah Yeshua, both men and women were immersed. Even Simon himself believed; and after being immersed, he continued with Philip. And when he saw signs and great miracles happening, he was continually amazed. Now when the emissaries in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the message of God, they sent Peter and John to them. They came down and prayed for them to receive the Ruach ha-Kodesh. For He had not yet come upon them; they had only been immersed in the name of the Lord Yeshua. Then they began laying their hands on them, and they were receiving the Ruach ha-Kodesh. Now when Simon saw that the Ruach ha-Kodesh was given through the laying on of hands by the emissaries, he offered them money, saying, “Give this power to me, too—so that anyone on whom I lay hands may receive the Ruach ha-Kodesh.” Acts 8:5-19
I solemnly charge you—in the presence of God and Messiah Yeshua, who is about to judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His Kingdom— proclaim the Word! Be ready when it is convenient or inconvenient. Confront, rebuke, encourage—with complete patience and instruction. For the time will come when they will not put up with sound instruction, but they will pile up for themselves teachers in keeping with their own desires, to have their ears tickled. And they will turn away from hearing the truth and wander off to myths. You, however, keep a clear mind in all things, withstand hardship, do the work of proclaiming the Good News, and fulfill your service. 2 Tim 4: 1-5 Until next time: May Adonai bless and keep you as you: press on pursuing the goal for the reward of the upward calling of God in Messiah Yeshua. Bible Study Notes: Focus points::[Judgment, teaching rebuking, exhortation, convincing] Any believer should first examine themselves for sin and repent.
Key words: Convince, rebuke, and exhort. (And teaching) To convince there has to be a disagreement. CONVINCE-ie:verb cause (someone) to believe firmly in the truth of something. REBUKE is a correction.verb express sharp disapproval or criticism of (someone) because of their behavior or actions. EXHORT, exhorting; the act of inciting to laudable deeds; incitement to that which is good or commendable. As believers we are instructed to #1 examine yourself and repent. > SHARE the gospel with unbelievers to repent (which is to acknowledge by judgment via scripture that humans are in sin in need of salvation and correction) >Beware of false teachers also requiring judgment comparing said person against the Word of God. Believers are to: correct, rebuke, and encourage or exhort believers. Throughout Paul's letters, he had words of correction and rebuke for his readers, to the point of calling the Galatians "foolish" and saying they had been "bewitched" (Galatians 3:1). Was he being judgmental? [Where does this judgment come from....It comes from God Himself. See JN 1:1
IN CLOSING: To the unbeliever deliver the message of the GOSPEL. To those who claim the body of Messiah : teaching, correction, rebuke and exhortation are Biblically sound instructions and directions given by God. If any remain unsure. The Feast of Tabernacles/Sukkot is coming up starting tomorrow EVE Friday 9/29-10/6. It is the last of the Fall Feasts and a joyous occasion. So I wanted to take some time to explain. Let's dive in! These are the moadim of Adonai (<-the feasts of the Lord) which you are to proclaim to be holy convocations, to present an offering by fire to Adonai—a burnt offering, a grain offering, a sacrifice and drink offerings, each on its own day, 38 besides those of the Shabbatot of Adonai and besides your gifts, all your vows and all your freewill offerings which you give to Adonai. 39 “So on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the fruits of the land, you are to keep the Feast of Adonai for seven days. The first day is to be a Shabbat rest, and the eighth day will also be a Shabbat rest. 40 On the first day you are to take choice fruit of trees, branches of palm trees, boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook, and rejoice before Adonai your God for seven days. 41 You are to celebrate it as a festival to Adonai for seven days in the year. It is a statute forever throughout your generations. Leviticus 23:37-41 TLV
John 7:1-2 Therefore Yeshua (Jesus) said to them, “My time has not yet come, but your time is always at hand. 7 The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify that its works are evil. 8 You go on up to the Feast. I’m not going to this feast, because My time hasn’t yet fully come.” 9 After saying these things, He stayed in the Galilee. 10 But after His brothers went to the Feast, He also went, not openly but secretly. 11 Then the Judean leaders were searching for Him at the Feast and kept asking, “Where is that fellow?” 12 There was a lot of murmuring about Him in the crowds. Some were saying, “He is good.” But others were saying, “Not so! He leads the people astray.” 13 Yet no one spoke openly about Him for fear of the Judean leaders. 14 About halfway through the Feast, Yeshua (Jesus)went up to the Temple and began teaching. JN 7: 6-14 TLV So Paul still remained a good while. Then he took leave of the brethren and sailed for Syria, and Priscilla and Aquila were with him. He had his hair cut off at Cenchrea, for he had taken a vow. And he came to Ephesus, and left them there; but he himself entered the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews. When they asked him to stay a longer time with them, he did not consent, but took leave of them, saying, >>“I must by all means keep this coming feast in Jerusalem; but I will return again to you, God willing.” And he sailed from Ephesus.<< Acts 18:18-21 Then all the survivors from all the nations that attacked Jerusalem will go up from year to year to worship the King, Adonai-Tzva’ot, (The Lord of Hosts) and to celebrate Sukkot. 17 Furthermore, if any of the nations on earth do not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, Adonai-Tzva’ot, they will have no rain. Zech 14: 16-17 TLV (the Feast will be kept in the future with a punishment of "no rain" for those nations which refuse) Anyone new to the Feast of Tabernacles, also known as Sukkot. Here is a simple explanation of it; It's a rehearsal for a future event where Yeshua will Tabernacle with us again, which simply means be with us.
The tent idea is a reminder we are in temporary dwelling places until we get to be with Yah permanently in the New Jerusalem, that will come down to earth. It also symbolizes the time when the Israelites were able to escape their slavery from the Egyptians and had to live in tents for 40 years. Its also a metaphor of how we escape and come out of the things of this World! Coming out of the traditions and the ways of man and religion. We hence Cross Over or Pass Over from the things of this World into the things and Ways of YHWH! This is where the word Hebrew comes from, one who has passed or crossed over! Enjoy your Tabernacle Time with Yah. He is our Banner, Covering, and Shelter. May He Overshadow us with His Glory and Presence during this set-apart Time. Be with us Always Yah in Spirit, until we are one with You permanently. Oh how we await this with great joy and anticipation. A quick google search can give you all kinds of ideas for how to decorate your own Sukkah or purchase one. The intent and motives of the heart are known by Yah and may He be with you. HalleluYah!! Have a blessed celebration rehearsal for the wedding feast to come. Do Bible things in Bible ways.... Follow the footsteps of the Master and KING. I hope you had a : blessed, reflective and repentant Yom Kippur/Day of Atonement. This blog post ties in nicely with repentance and reflection. Temptation/desire/sin (lawlessness) Well, well.... But each one is tempted when he is dragged away and enticed by his own desire. Then when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is full grown, it brings forth death. James 1:14-15
Temptation cannot exist where desire does not first exist. Scripture teaches that desire brings temptation. The issue here is the desires of the heart. When does temptation occur? After one is -dragged away and enticed by his OWN DESIRE- James 1:15 All temptation can do is point out the opportunity to fulfill a PRE-existing desire. The only way to transform your desires is: Yeshua. Therefore submit to God. But resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded! Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned into mourning, and your joy into gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of Adonai, and He shall lift you up. Bible notes from our family study: We are forbidden from taking the name of YHWH (or taking up the name or bearing the name, as the phrase could be translated) in a manner that is wicked, worthless, or for wrong purposes. Examples:Leviticus 19:12 and Hosea 10:4 mention not swearing falsely with YHWH'S name. YHWH'S name should not be used to deceive others. Jeremiah 23:25 says not to prophesy lies in YHWH'S name, and Leviticus 18:21 even mentions child sacrifice to Molech as something that would profane the name of the Lord. Misusing the Lord’s name is not as simplistic as saying statements like, “Oh my ____,” even if such statements are inappropriate & wrong. The wrong use of the Lord’s name, the one the Bible warns against is using YHWH'S name for evil. Doing that would require much more intent, effort, and indicate that we do not have the right relationship with Him. We should strive to exalt His name . We are therefore ambassadors for Messiah, as though God were making His appeal through us. 2 Cor 5: 20 For we are His workmanship—created in Messiah Yeshua for good deeds, which God prepared beforehand so we might walk in them. More than that I hope you had a blessed & joyful Feast of Trumpets/Yom Teruah with your fellowship, family etc! As many of you know we host a small house church (The Narrow Way Torah Observant Fellowship) and so we had a small gathering here. It was a wonderful time of celebration and fellowship. Nothing fancy. Nor does it need to be fancy. The children had a blast as well! Now that we are prepping for Yom Kippur/Day of Atonement; our family started a devotional study together. This is nice because after each section (since we are doing it as a family) the children, my husband, and myself can all type back and forth to each other with thoughts, guidance, and questions as we go. We are all pretty excited about it and the opportunity for growth in Messiah as a family as hearts and minds are prepped.
