Hello scattered friends and family in Messiah!
The 3 pictures above are the curriculum selections for the 2023-2024 school year! We do give flexibility to the kids to pick their choice of science, and electives. The 1st picture for our up and coming 6th grader she chose General Science 1 that comes with the 4 books: Astronomy, Weather, Mineral, Ocean, and 2 electives: Living Healthy, and a video American Sign Language (ASL class) Our up and coming 5th grader is picture #2 and he chose Zoology for science and also Living Healthy so he can do that class with his sister. He is also taking Elementary Biblical Apologetics. Our up and coming 3rd grader selected Adventures on Planet Earth for science with an elective of Cursive, and the video course of ASL as well. I am going to be working on the first few months of lesson plans over the summer break. As well as, finishing up my courses with AAPC for my CPC medical coding certification, at last. After completing the certification exam it will be nice to finally be back down to work, homeschooling, and ministry assistance with my husband. The past 2 years of: work, homeschooling, AAPC school (part-time), and ministry has been quite the experience. But Yah is faithful and has always made the way before us. HalleluYah! In addition to the curriculum...our school day is typically over by 1-1:30 and with that we like to enjoy family and fun time together. Homeschool freedom at it's best. Happy homeschool planning for 2023-2024! * Our base curriculum is Homeschool (masterbooks.com) * along with supplements: IXL, Spectrum, Thinking Tree for devotionals, and Life Skills YOU CAN NOW CONNECT WITH US ON OUR FACEBOOK HERE! Hello friends and scattered family in Messiah!
I hope you all are doing well! So let's chat about this.... every yr we open our home to church fam and friends for a viewing of The Prince of Egypt in preparation for Passover. The kids look forward to this annually. We have also created some stick characters for when we read the Exodus story the kids can raise the corresponding stick to what is going on in the story (this came from Torah Sisters) which you can find here: Ten Plagues Craft Printable – Torah Sisters Anyhow, I took the kids on Monday evening to go pick out some candy and chips to accompany the movie and they are soooo excited for Friday! We watch the movie with everyone...then on Shabbat for their Bible lessons we review the facts of the Exodus and also the application with Yeshua Messiah. I have shared previously that we use Bible Pathway Adventures books regularly for Shabbat lessons because they have several books you can purchase. However, for the Spring and Fall Feasts, we use these books for lessons (pictured below):

Outside of Masterbooks I piece together things as needed or desired. In this case, the kids are reading some books outside of our curriculum. IE: Charlotte's Web and Christian Heroes: Then & Now Corrie Ten Boom and doing some corresponding reading comprehension worksheets, essays, and activities. One resource I use on occasion is: Teaching Resources & Lesson Plans | Teachers Pay Teachers Our 4th grader is reading Charlotte's Web this yr. Once you purchase an item from "teachers pay teachers" it is saved to your accnt for future use as well. I went ahead and printed two copies so our other son can use it next yr. I (3 hole) punched the papers and placed them in a binder for use so it all stays together. This particular set has been exciting to put together and very easy to use. Our oldest, 5th grader, is reading Christian Heroes: Then & Now Corrie Ten Boom for that I purchased the book and the corresponding Unit Study from Amazon. The unit study is more a teacher's guide than for student use. It is broken into categories:
YWAM publishes the Christian Heroes: Then & Now series and they have several other choices. So I believe, for the boys, I will choose a man for them to read about over the next 2 years as they individually progress into 5th grade with the corresponding Unit Study for that individual we read about.
