Hello scattered friends and familiy in Messiah! I'm just going to say again, OH, how we LOVE this curriculum! Masterbooks is non-denominational curriculum. But they cover: Shabbat, all of the Feasts, and here is another little gem that is often misunderstood and mis-explained to the masses. The images above are from the 101 Favorite Bible Stories book that goes with the Language curriculum from 3rd-5th grade. Reading from this book is every Thursday. Many adults that have been in church for years have not understood or properly been taught the truth from the Bible. They have been taught a westernized/roman centric, denomination preferred version of something that is NOT Bible. Now while Peter was mulling over the vision, the Ruach said to him, “Look here, three men are looking for you. But get up, go downstairs, and go with them without hesitating, because I Myself have sent them.- Acts 10:19-20 TLV He said to them, “You yourselves know that it is not permitted for a Jewish man to associate with a non-Jew or to visit him. Yet God has shown me that I should call no one unholy or unclean. So I came without objection when I was sent for. I ask, then, what is the reason why you sent for me? Acts 10:28-29 TLV Often times, actually, in 90+ % of western churches, this vision is taught to mean that all animals are acceptable to YHWH to be eaten when tha,t in fact, IS NOT what the vision is about at all. The vision as Peter explains is: "Yet God has shown me that I should call no one unholy or unclean" YHWH used the example of clean and unclean animals, something that, being Torah adherent Peter would understand to show him that some of the oral traditions that Jews followed such as they should not eat with or visit with non-Jews is a "man made tradition/teaching," it is not of YHWH/Torah. Then Peter opened his mouth and said, “I truly understand that God is not one to show favoritism, but in every nation the one who fears Him and does what is right is acceptable to Him. You know the message He sent to Bnei-Yisrael, proclaiming shalom through Messiah Yeshua— Acts 10:34-36 TLV The Pharisees and Torah scholars questioned Yeshua, “Why don’t Your disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders? Why do they eat bread with unwashed hands?” And He said to them, “Rightly did Isaiah prophesy about you hypocrites, as it is written, ‘This people honors Me with their lips but their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ Mark 7: 5-7 TLV When He had left the crowd and entered the house, His disciples questioned Him about the parable. And He said to them, “Are you then also lacking understanding? Don’t you grasp that whatever goes into the man cannot make him unholy? For it does not enter into the heart but into the stomach, and then goes out into the sewer, cleansing all foods.” And He continued, “It is what comes out of the man that makes the man unholy. For from within, out of the heart of men, come evil intentions, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, lustfulness, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. All these evil things come from within and make the man unholy Mark 7:17-23 TLV They said, “Why do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not do the ritual handwashing when they eat bread." Matt 15:2 TLV Are you also still lacking understanding?” Yeshua said. “Don’t you grasp that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the stomach and then is ejected into the sewer? But the things that proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart, and those things make the man unholy. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, and slander. These are the things that make the man unholy; but to eat with unwashed hands does not make the man unholy.”Matt 15:17-20 TLV Popular theology goes like this: Yeshua is teaching contrary to YHWH's instructions in Torah. "The Word made flesh," is saying and teaching the opposite of the Word and they are free to eat whatever they want. **hmmm....sounds questionable and poses a serious problem because, what is sin? answer: Everyone who keeps sinning is violating Torah — indeed, sin is violation of Torah. 1 JN 3:4 ** ----> Would the "Word made flesh," (ie: Yeshua) who came not to do His own will but the will of Him who sent Him.... sin and teach others to sin by violating Torah? Ouch, church! That is not sound doctrine/teaching. That is the church following Roman-rooted traditions from the Catholic church who became Anti-Semitic and started veering away from the Truth and leading millions with them. Yeshua telling people that they can now eat any animal means He is telling them to disobey/be lawless to the Father who He embodies in the flesh! Scripture says in Lev 11 and reiterates in Deut. 14 that the flesh of certain animals is NOT FOOD. Rabbi's argued over when prayer should be said during the washing of hands and the instructions about the water and the basin used to wash..... This is not Torah. This fluff "added" to the burden of Yah's people and still does today for both Jews and Christians that are not theologically sound. For this is the love of God—that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 1 JN 5:3 TLV And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men Matt. 15:9 TLV The context of all of this and the implications according to Messiah is that the Pharisees are "making the Word of God of no effect through there traditions." The idea that Yeshua would abolish Leviticus 11 goes in direct opposition to His own Words: Do not think that I came to abolish the Torah or the Prophets! I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill. Matt 5: 17 TLV Yeshua plainly said He did not come to “destroy” the law. The Greek word translated destroy (Greek, katalyo) can also be translated “dissolve,” “demolish,” “abrogate” or “deprive of force.”} Instead of abolishing the law, He came to fulfill (pleroo) it—which means to “make full,” “fill up” or “accomplish)
Genesis-Duet. When Yeshua quoted scripture to teach He taught from the Torah. The church in the book of Acts didn't have a written (2nd [New] Testament) yet. They continued in Torah. Yeshua is the High Priest of Torah, "And the Word became flesh and tabernacled among us. We looked upon His glory, the glory of the one and only from the Father, full of grace and truth." John 1:14 TLV AMEN! We are not under the law.." What does that mean? It means we do not stand condemned by the Torah/Law because Yeshua paid the sacrifice since ALL have fallen short and been lawless/sinful. (see Rom 3:23) What is sin? Everyone who keeps sinning is violating Torah — indeed, sin is violation of Torah .⁹ (1 JN) 3:4 CJB or in NKJV "Whoever commits sin, commits lawlessness for sin is lawlessness" What is the law? Torah.
Bottom line: Yeshua says, "If you love Me, obey Me" the expectation of obedience is there. When we fail and commit lawlessness the fulfillment of the law in Yeshua redeems His own from the curse. If we repent upon recognition of sin, are born again, and belong to Him. Western churches by and large teach "another gospel" they do not teach what Yeshua taught. "But even if we (or an angel from heaven) should announce any "good news" to you other than what we have proclaimed to you, let that person be cursed!- Gal 1: 8TLV Be of a "Berean mindset," - "searching the Scriptures each day to see whether these things were true." Acts 17: 11 TLV In conclusion : Who will rescue me from this body bound for death? Thanks be to God [He will]! — through Yeshua the Messiah, our Lord! To sum up: with my mind, I am a slave of God’s Torah ; but with my old nature, I am a slave of sin’s “ Torah .” Romans 7:24-25
(Gal) 3:13 And in our new nature “ ‘This is the covenant which I will make with them after those days,’ says Adonai : ‘I will put my Torah on their hearts, and write it on their minds . . . ” (Heb) 10:16 One of the major problems with the Pharisees’ traditions was that they often led to the abuse and mistreatment of other people. For example, in Matthew 23 Yeshua strongly rebuked them for putting unnecessary burdens on people (verse 4), abusing widows (verse 14), neglecting justice and mercy (verse 23) and even being complicit in the murder of righteous men (verse 34-35). In another place, He scolded them for inventing a loophole that allowed them to avoid caring for their elderly parents (Mark 7:11-13). The main flaw was neglecting to show love to their fellow man. Hello scattered friends and family in Messiah!
The 3 pictures above are the curriculum selections for the 2023-2024 school year! We do give flexibility to the kids to pick their choice of science, and electives. The 1st picture for our up and coming 6th grader she chose General Science 1 that comes with the 4 books: Astronomy, Weather, Mineral, Ocean, and 2 electives: Living Healthy, and a video American Sign Language (ASL class) Our up and coming 5th grader is picture #2 and he chose Zoology for science and also Living Healthy so he can do that class with his sister. He is also taking Elementary Biblical Apologetics. Our up and coming 3rd grader selected Adventures on Planet Earth for science with an elective of Cursive, and the video course of ASL as well. I am going to be working on the first few months of lesson plans over the summer break. As well as, finishing up my courses with AAPC for my CPC medical coding certification, at last. After completing the certification exam it will be nice to finally be back down to work, homeschooling, and ministry assistance with my husband. The past 2 years of: work, homeschooling, AAPC school (part-time), and ministry has been quite the experience. But Yah is faithful and has always made the way before us. HalleluYah! In addition to the curriculum...our school day is typically over by 1-1:30 and with that we like to enjoy family and fun time together. Homeschool freedom at it's best. Happy homeschool planning for 2023-2024! * Our base curriculum is Homeschool (masterbooks.com) * along with supplements: IXL, Spectrum, Thinking Tree for devotionals, and Life Skills YOU CAN NOW CONNECT WITH US ON OUR FACEBOOK HERE! Phil 4:13 *side note DISCLAIMER: I do not receive compensation from ANY of the resources I share or use. They are just resources, curriculum, etc that have blessed our family and may bless yours!* Hello friends and scattered family in Messiah! Teaching Apologetics to the next generation is so important. This is one of the reasons that we love Masterbooks as the base of our curriculum we build and flex from there. All of these classes seen below can be found here: Electives - Subject - Homeschool (masterbooks.com) The culture around us is terribly confused and attempting to drag all children into the mess. Standing firm in faith and arming your children with knowledge is pivotal. This, of course, is not the only way to arm your children with Apologetics knowledge to defend the faith...but it is the route we have chosen, that I am able to speak of. Many of the High School level courses are suitable for adults as well and of course you can pick and choose if you just want to order the books or if you do want to order the workbooks as well. This post is really about how to keep your kiddos involved and having age appropriate fun. I just had a conversation with a friend about this yesterday about how we want to have activities each year that are: warm, fun, and memorable for the kids. So when they are older they can look back in fondness and with love at the time shared with family around Yah's Feast days. One thing that we do with our family and children is go through our Bible Pathway Adventures Spring Feast book and complete some of the activities that teach about: Passover, ULB, First Fruits, and Shavuot (Pentecost). The kids always enjoy those and there are crafts in the back of the book! For Passover every yr we schedule a family and friends movie night to watch The Prince of Egypt . This is an event for fellowship with our friends who may not observe the Feasts in a way to share with them that is casual fun. But anyhow we make a big deal about decorating the house like a movie theatre, we make a special trip to the store where the kids can grab their favorite candy, chips, and drinks and we countdown to movie night to build anticipation. For First Fruits the kids watch: , God with Us, (an animated movie about the life, death, burial, and resurrection of Yeshua) complete activities in the Bible Pathway Adventures Spring Feast book, dress up nice and go visit the grandparents for fun and pictures in the evening. Likewise, for Shavuot (Pentecost) we watch The Messengers about the book of Acts and complete some pages out of: Bible Pathway Adventures Spring Feast book. For Shavuot, in the past, we have sometimes created a paper ring chain out of construction paper to count the Omer 50 days. The kids can tear a ring of paper off each day. For ULB there are also lots of Matzah crafts you can do or recipes you can create to make that fun as well. (Pinterest for ideas) Regardless, we want to be diligent about following the command to: "teach them diligently to your children and speak of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down and when you rise up." Deut 6:7 TLV (referencing the commands of Yah, these are HIS commanded Feast days) It is our job to teach our children the truth. "These are the appointed moadim of Adonai, which you are to proclaim to be holy convocations--My moadim" Lev 23:2 TLV And of course, on any Feast Day, the kids are free to blow their shofars in the back yard typically and they always love that opportunity and see it as a high privilege. How do you celebrate with your kiddos? Feel free to leave a comment! We use these books for lessons :
