Hello scattered family and friends in Messiah! I hope you all are doing well.
Well, Yom Kippur/Day of Atonement is nearly upon us! Sunday sunset to Monday sunset. For Shabbat School our lesson for the kids was from Trained up in Torah (HERE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ht_Qu7WcBx0&t=2941s) and the pages above are from Bible Pathway Adventures Fall Feast Activity book. The two combined made a fun and educational lesson for the kids! Yom Kippur is also known as the Day of Atonement, it is the holiest day of the year. Its central themes are atonement and repentance. It's traditionally observed with a period of fasting and intensive prayer, often spending most of the day in services. {*the 10 days between The Feast of Trumpets and Atonement are often referred to as "the days of awe" for this internal inspection/repentance period} Yom Kippur is the memorial of the cost of humanity’s redemption. Yeshua, as our High Priest, secures our atonement through His death, resurrection, and ascension, giving us the opportunity to repent "teshuvah" for forgiveness, relationship, and obedience to be written in the Lamb's Book of Life. He lives and intercedes for us forever! This is acknowledged as a day of intercession, repentance/fasting. (LEV 16:29-34) This shall be an everlasting statute.... our Atonement was made in Yeshua Messiah, Amen! We can be filled with joy and reflection of who we are in Messiah. And the remnant both ethnic and grafted in believers of Israel still to be saved. Therefore, since we have a great Kohen Gadol (High Priest) who has passed through the heavens, Yeshua Ben-Elohim, let us hold firmly to our confessed allegiance. For we do not have a kohen gadol (High Priest) who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all the same ways—yet without sin. Therefore let us draw near to the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace for help in time of need. Hebrews 4:14-16 Psalm 110:4 proclaims that the Messiah would be a priest according to the order of Melchizedek. The book of Hebrews compares Yeshua to Melchizedek who had “no beginning of days nor end of life, but, made like Ben-Elohim [the Son of God], He remains a kohen [priest] for all time” (Hebrews 7:3). Because Yeshua lives eternally, His priesthood never ends; He is a priest forever. (See Genesis 14:18–20, Hebrews 7.) The priest was a mediator, one who goes before YHWH representing the people. For there is one God and there is one Mediator between God and men—a human, Messiah Yeshua, who gave Himself as a ransom for al—the testimony at the proper time. 1 Tim 2:5 On the Day of Atonement, the High Priest brought the blood of bulls and goats into the Temple, sprinkling it on the Mercy Seat in the Holy of Holies to cover Israel’s sin. Yeshua brought His own blood. Through His sacrifice, offering Himself without blemish, He obtained eternal redemption for us. He did this once and for all. (See Hebrews 7:27, 9:12–13, 26-28, 10:2, 10. He understands our weaknesses and offers His compassion. Those who have placed their trust in Him may approach His holiness and receive grace and mercy in times of need. (See Hebrews 4:15–16 and 7:26–28.) When He entered into the heavenly Holy of Holies with His own blood, Yeshua brought about the new covenant prophesied in Jeremiah 31:31–33. He enabled Yah's Law to be placed in our hearts and His Holy Spirit to dwell inside us. YHWH dwells in those who have placed their faith in Yeshua. Obedience to Torah (ie: His Law) is the sanctification/fruit of our salvation as we become more and more like Yeshua through continuance of guarding and living the Torah. We can enter His presence boldly without fear of condemnation. (See Hebrews 8:7–12, Ephesians 1:13, 1 Corinthians 6:19–20, Hebrews 4:16, Romans 8:1, 15.) Moreover I will give you a new heart. I will put a new spirit within you. I will remove the stony heart from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Ruach within you. Then I will cause you to walk in My laws, so you will keep My rulings and do them. Ezek 36:26-27 The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God is truly made perfect. We know that we are in Him by this— whoever claims to abide in Him must walk just as He walked. 1 JN 2: 4-6 May your observance be blessed in reflection and repentance. Hello friends and scattered family in Messiah! Wow, what an exciting time! We are getting festive in mood and decorations around the house. Our fellowship, family and, children will certainly enjoy this time together as we prep for The Feast of Trumpets this upcoming weekend! So much happened this past weekend and I have a ton of photos to upload for blog posts. BUT, Masterbooks, never fails to excite me every year with the timing of the Fall Feasts information in the curriculum right on time. So the examples you see above are from Masterbooks Language Lessons for a Living Education levels 3, and 5. (for 3rd and 5th grade respectively) These are for our 2 boys tomorrow! These examples ^^^^^^ are from Bible Pathway Adventures Fall Feast book. We use Bible Pathway books for Shabbat kids' lessons (for church) These pages were completed this past Shabbat 9/9/23. Scripture is incorporated into the very fabric of our lives. From: how we live, how we resolve conflict, how we discipline, how we educate, and how we as parents aim to honor YHWH in obedience to the Shema command.
It is not a few hours a day once a wk. Our culture is Bible Culture, which is YHWH's culture. Our Holy Days are His Holy Days, the Appointed Times/Moedim given as a "sign" of His covenant with His people. We live in this country and this world but we are not of it. We have crossed over and been grafted into the people of Yah, we are Hebrew. We are ambassadors here on a mission for our KING. HalleluYAH! The Day of Blowing / Trumpets — points to when the Messiah will appear in the heavens as a Bridegroom coming for His bride, the ekklesia -both native and grafted in belivers-. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 1 Corinthians 15:52) Masterbooks, our foundation curriculum also incorporates the Feasts into the Language curriculum which is a blessing. 2023: sunset 9/15-sunset 9/16 We annually celebrate in faith and hope the 'practice announcement, until He comes. It is a joyous occasion! In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you are to have a Shabbat rest, a memorial of blowing (shofar), a holy convocation. You are to do no regular work, and you are to present an offering made by fire to Adonai. (Leviticus 23:24-25 ) By His will we have been made holy through the offering of the body of Messiah Yeshua once for all. Indeed, every kohen stands day by day serving and offering the same sacrifices again and again, which can never take away sins. >>But on the other hand, when this One offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, He sat down at the right hand of God<< Hebrews 10:10-12 TLV

This is one of the reasons that we love Masterbooks as the base of our curriculum we build and flex from there. All of these classes seen below can be found here: Electives - Subject - Homeschool (masterbooks.com) The culture around us is terribly confused and attempting to drag all children into the mess. Standing firm in faith and arming your children with knowledge is pivotal. This, of course, is not the only way to arm your children with Apologetics knowledge to defend the faith...but it is the route we have chosen, that I am able to speak of. Many of the High School level courses are suitable for adults as well and of course you can pick and choose if you just want to order the books or if you do want to order the workbooks as well. Phil 4:13 *side note DISCLAIMER: I do not receive compensation from ANY of the resources I share or use. They are just resources, curriculum, etc that have blessed our family and may bless yours!* Good morning, friends and scattered family in Messiah! Well this is something new this yr as well. This came out of the: Masterbooks, More Than Words Level 2 book that one of our children used last yr and I kept it. This yr every morning we start the day off by reading over these summarized statements and I go down the list day by day and review the scripture for one. For example: Monday I may review the scripture for: MT 5:13 You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt should lose its flavor, how shall it be made salty again? Tuesday: MT 5:14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden." Wednesday: JN 15:3-4 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I will abide in you. The branch cannot itself produce fruit, unless it abides on the vine. Likewise, you cannot produce fruit unless you abide in Me. etc. and then we have a little devotional/Bible discussion about that verse before getting the school day going. We are laying the foundation for their character development and Biblical identity in knowing who they are and to Whom they belong. Every yr I imagine we will change things here and there and add/subtract things to flex with us as we grow as a family. Do you start your school day with a morning basket, or family devotional? Image 1: CHARACTER FOCUS: ATTENTIVE: scripture ref: Prov. 4:20 -27 TLV My son, pay attention to my words-- incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them out of you sight keep them within your heart. For they are life to those who find them and health to their body. Guard your heart diligently for from it flow the springs of life. Put away perversity from your mouth, and keep devious lips far from you. Let your eyes look directly ahead, and fix your gaze straight in front of you. Clear a level path for your feet, so all your ways will be firm. Do not turn to the right or to the left. Divert your foot from evil. Image 2: CHARACTER FOCUS: HELPFUL: scripture ref: Phil 2:3:3-4 TLV Do nothing out of selfishness or conceit, but with humility consider others as more important than yourselves, looking out not only for your own interests but also for the interests of others. Educating the whole child : We love these blessed little moments in our curriculum to teach: behaviors, and character lessons that help our children to be mindful of others and also their reflection of Messiah. Because there is more to education than the core subjects: language, science, math, history etc. "All Scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, for reproof, for restoration, and for training in righteousness, so that the person belonging to God may be capable, fully equipped for every good deed." 2 Tim 3:16 TLV AMEN! I strongly encourage parents to take back the reigns on education for your children. It may require sacrifice and often does...But children are a heritage and blessing from Adonai. They are the future and we will be held to account for how we raised them as the Shema states: "And these words I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise..." Deut 6:4-7 Nothing in life of value comes easily. It requires work and sacrifice and homeschooling your children is no different. There are various reasons parents may choose not to...but I implore you to do whatever is within your control, and power to get them out of public schools. We are Shabbat and Feast keeping, following Yeshua Messiah, and exalting His preeminence! We strive to live and honor Him in keeping the commandments as best as we can. for He said: If you love Me, you will keep My commandments- JN 14:15TLV and "For this is the love of God--that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome." 1 JN 5:3 TLV That desire flows through every area of life including how we educate our children. We absolutely love that Masterbooks gives us the flexibility to tailor their education to: honor, respect, and obey His commands and Feasts. * Masterbooks is a Christian company, not specifically Torah Observant. So I want to be transparent about that. But the Torah is well, BIBLICAL. SO.... The mention of roman/idolatrous customs ie: easter and christmas we do remove from any lessons for our children and those are in fact, not in the Bible. * But this curriculum has been a huge blessing for us. The lessons about the Feasts line up with them each yr. I am late in posting this one but our daughter was excited to see it in her lesson. We do use supplements as well as needed. Z is doing the "Living Art Lessons" via Masterbooks and her project was the tissue paper lake with flowers. She did a beautiful job learning about texture in art. We have been working with O, he is in 1st grade....but we have been working with him on appreciating his family members and thinking on these things: "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable—if there is any virtue and if there is anything worthy of praise--dwell on these things." Phil 4:8 TLV So his craft was an "encouragement tree" to think of positive character traits of people within his family and give them a leaf. He included Yeshua Messiah! But his leaves say:

They are: resources, curriculum, etc that have blessed our family and may bless yours!* Hello friends! I was just going to pop in and share some healthy habits we try to instill in our children. I say frequently we are, "educating the WHOLE child" which includes: spiritual/Biblical education, academic education, emotional, mental, and physical education. So we have some basic expectations set up that in practice do benefit the kids and get them in the habit of making healthy habits.
*****Now I will notate that these are traditionally "christian" troops so around the holidays, my kids involvement is limited. Our children do not participate in any Christmas or Easter activities if they have them.... and this will vary by troop because they are independently run and supported by local churches in your area- both of our troops know our beliefs and that we guard/keep Shabbat weekly and we keep the Biblical Feasts**** I am the parent that attends every meeting and am very involved so nothing is being taught to my children outside of my knowledge. But outside of the "christian holidays," I have not had issue with anything. They focus heavily on character development/fruits of the Spirit, community service, and, outdoor activities and crafts. But you would have to do your own research for your area. Those are just some ideas. Each household is different but keeping kids busy and active is often a concern for parents new to homeschooling. This is the beauty of homeschooling you can create the environment to help instill good habits in your kids and do what works for your family, your needs, your household and your schedules! What are some healthy habits you and your kiddos keep up? Until next time: May Adonai bless and keep you as you: press on pursuing the goal for the reward of the upward calling of God in Messiah Yeshua. Phil 4:13 |
