Hello friends and readers! We are nearing the end of the 2021-2022 school yr with about 9-10 weeks left on our schedule.
Now I am a meticulous planner so I order and keep 2 years of books on hand at a time so these were in the closet just awaiting their debut. I also have 3rd and 6th grade boxed and ready as well. So excited! But anyhow so O will be in 2nd grade and we will be introducing a daily devotional to start his day:
As always and previously discussed our supplemental materials include:
Until next time, Blessings and Shalom as you continue to "pursue the upward calling of God in Messiah Yeshua"-Phil 4:13 *side note DISCLAIMER: I do not receive compensation from ANY of the resources I share or use. Hello friends! I was just going to pop in and share some healthy habits we try to instill in our children. I say frequently we are, "educating the WHOLE child" which includes: spiritual/Biblical education, academic education, emotional, mental, and physical education. So we have some basic expectations set up that in practice do benefit the kids and get them in the habit of making healthy habits.
*****Now I will notate that these are traditionally "christian" troops so around the holidays, my kids involvement is limited. Our children do not participate in any Christmas or Easter activities if they have them.... and this will vary by troop because they are independently run and supported by local churches in your area- both of our troops know our beliefs and that we guard/keep Shabbat weekly and we keep the Biblical Feasts**** I am the parent that attends every meeting and am very involved so nothing is being taught to my children outside of my knowledge. But outside of the "christian holidays," I have not had issue with anything. They focus heavily on character development/fruits of the Spirit, community service, and, outdoor activities and crafts. But you would have to do your own research for your area. Those are just some ideas. Each household is different but keeping kids busy and active is often a concern for parents new to homeschooling. This is the beauty of homeschooling you can create the environment to help instill good habits in your kids and do what works for your family, your needs, your household and your schedules! What are some healthy habits you and your kiddos keep up? Until next time: May Adonai bless and keep you as you: press on pursuing the goal for the reward of the upward calling of God in Messiah Yeshua. Phil 4:13 2/7/22
Learning how to tell time! Our youngest has been waiting and waiting to use these..... I kept the lesson short, about 45 minutes enough for him to find it fun and learn a few basics.
He said setting the time on the plastic clock after rolling the dice to get the time was his favorite part. 2/8/22 We closed out the evening playing with the clock and dice again and using the matching cards...match the clock time to the right printed time. He really enjoyed it enough that he wasn't ready to put it up. In just 2 days he has learned SO MUCH. This was an excellent and fun resource to introduce time to him and he had fun while learning! Until next time, Blessings and Shalom as you continue to "pursue the upward calling of God in Messiah Yeshua"-Phil 4:13 *side note DISCLAIMER: I do not receive compensation from ANY of the resources I share or use. This week our oldest learned about the Solar System and planets. I ordered the "Planet system planetarium" off of Amazon for $20. In addition to the book reading and worksheet, she completed the planetarium and closed out the lesson with this video: https://youtu.be/d8y8kc317EE from Homeschool Pop. She was excited about this lesson and thought it was neat. She did say the painting was tedious and not her fave. But overall it was an enjoyable lesson! Next week our youngest is diving into -> learning how to tell time! *side note DISCLAIMER: I do not receive compensation from ANY of the resources I share or use.
