Hello friends and scattered family in Messiah! I hope you enjoyed the Festival of Lights (Hanukkah) with family and friends. Here, I am sharing some of the crafts our children have done this year. In addition, they enjoyed watching: Animated Hero Classics Maccabees The Story Of Hanukkah - YouTube <- link For Passover similarly we watch The Prince of Egypt.... But we discussed: Our allegiance is to Messiah before anyone and anything else. The Lord Yeshua Messiah does not want us to believe everything—only the truth (John 14:6). He commands us to love God with all of our heart, our mind, and soul (Matthew 22:37), to know the truth that sets us free by following Him (John 8:31-32) and to make that truth known to others (Matthew 28:18-20; Ephesians 4:15). The Apostle Paul commands us to "test all things. Hold on to the good. Avoid every kind of evil" (1 Thess 5:21). Rather than letting culture conform us to its mold, we should be transformed through the renewing of our minds so that we know and accomplish God's will in all of life (Romans 12:2) and come out from among them. (2 Cor 6:17) . "You however, keep a clear mind in all things, withstand hardship, do the work of proclaiming the Good News and fulfill your service." (2 Tim 4:5) Hopefully you have enjoyed or been blessed by 1 or more of the Hanukkah posts this season. Blessings and Shalom in the Name of Yeshua Messiah! We had a Hanukkah cookie day recently with our church family and children! This was an incredibly messy and fun endeavor! Pictures below! :) (snickerdoodle cookies, and sugar cookies) + plenty of icing and sprinkles... Blessings and Shalom in the Name of Yeshua Messiah! Our kids love crafts and art. They are on "fall break" this week from homeschooling- but that doesn't mean the crafting has to end! I generally look to Pinterest for seasonal crafts. The large leaves I cut by hand the smaller ones I ordered off Amazon to make life easier. Above is the prep-work and the finished products! Hopefully these little crafts can be a fun experience for you and your littles to share at home as well! You may recall a post from a few weeks ago about our field trip to Newport Aquarium in KY that post can be found here: Newport Aquarium Field Trip - Pursuing the upward call of God in Messiah Yeshua- Phil 3:14 But from that trip the kids selected 1 animal to research and create a tri-fold project about. The animals are:

This craft was from last week's Shabbat school lesson 11/12/22 with the lesson from Trained up in Torah: (1) The Burning Bush- Exodus 3&4 Sabbath School Lesson - YouTube *We have a Shabbat Bible lesson and craft every week for the children* I did not have the materials on hand to complete the craft they have at the end so we made our own! For support behind the construction paper we used a paperplate as the back. Pasted the "bush base" as black construction paper and then various clips of: red, yellow, and orange for the flames. Very simple craft but the kiddos had lots of fun in the making of it! We use Trained up in Torah for Shabbat lessons for the kids OR crafts/activities from Bible Pathway Adventures: Shop for Ages 6-12 – Bible Pathway Adventures YOU CAN NOW CONNECT WITH US ON OUR FACEBOOK HERE! : Pursuing the upward call | Facebook This is a public "personal blog" pg via Facebook to make it easier for readers to connect and share. Z is doing the "Living Art Lessons" via Masterbooks and her project was the tissue paper lake with flowers. She did a beautiful job learning about texture in art. We have been working with O, he is in 1st grade....but we have been working with him on appreciating his family members and thinking on these things: "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable—if there is any virtue and if there is anything worthy of praise--dwell on these things." Phil 4:8 TLV So his craft was an "encouragement tree" to think of positive character traits of people within his family and give them a leaf. He included Yeshua Messiah! But his leaves say:

This week our oldest learned about the Solar System and planets. I ordered the "Planet system planetarium" off of Amazon for $20. In addition to the book reading and worksheet, she completed the planetarium and closed out the lesson with this video: https://youtu.be/d8y8kc317EE from Homeschool Pop. She was excited about this lesson and thought it was neat. She did say the painting was tedious and not her fave. But overall it was an enjoyable lesson! Next week our youngest is diving into -> learning how to tell time! *side note DISCLAIMER: I do not receive compensation from ANY of the resources I share or use. Hello friends!
Let's talk about yucky weather and winter activities. I am excited about this post! So lots of people wonder when you homeschool what to do to keep the kids entertained when the weather is not suitable for going outdoors. I have set up a gallery of pictures/ideas of stuff we do for you to browse through. These kids have no shortage of imaginative play and personally I think THAT has a huge part in it. Screen time is limited in our home. to about 1 hr of tv per child and 1 hour of tablet time per child with a cut off at 8pm. One example yesterday: I gave them each a cardboard box, markers, crayons, and scissors and they were entertained building their "cars" for over 2 hours. Utilizing their imagination, motor skills, creativity etc. Indoors they have lots of: connect sticks, legos, blocks, puzzles, games like Ker-Plunk, Jenga, musical Hot Potato and art supplies as well. We also utilize the garage a lot as a kind of "gym" they roller blade in the garage when the weather is not favorable outside and jump rope, play games, and use some of the messier toys out there. We have a speaker set up so they can listen to parental approved music too. We also pull up kids workout videos on youtube occasionally so they can get out the wiggles and get some cardio: 1) Kids HIIT Workout 2 - YouTube 2) Wild Animals Exercise for Kids | Learn about the BIG 5 Animals | Indoor Workout for Children - YouTube 3) 12 MINUTE FULL BODY WORKOUT FOR KIDS | NO REPEATS - YouTube If they say the infamous, "I'm bored!" I set a timer for 15 minutes and pick 4 "centers" they spend 15 minutes in each center and rotate to the next one when the timer goes off. There goes an hour! Or they can have quiet time to read a book. Skim through the pics and tell me what you think! What are some ideas of things you do with your kiddos? Blessings and Shalom as you continue to "pursue the upward calling of God in Messiah Yeshua"-Phil 4:13 *side note DISCLAIMER: I do not receive compensation from ANY of the resources I share or use. They are just resources, curriculum, etc that have blessed our family and may bless yours!* Hello friends and readers! As many of you know we use Masterbooks as our primary base curriculum and sprinkle in IXL, Spelling City and various hands on activities into our homeschool.
