Hello scattered friends and family in Messiah! We utilize Masterbooks for all book work and this paper to the left comes from Language Lessons for a Living Education, level 3. Masterbooks is a non-denominational curriculum. But as we all know Shabbat and the Feast Days are in the Bible with specific instructions. This post is really just to take a moment and appreciate the curriculum for having these things woven in at the appropriate time of year so that as: Whole Bible Observant believers, Shabbat, and Feast keepers we can have these beautiful and easy to understand lessons to teach our children! The picture below is from Language Lessons for a Living Education, level 5. Blessings for you and your family as you begin to prep for Passover, ULB, and First Fruits! Another field trip day! Because I do work full-time. To do field trip days I either flex time or use PTO. This came up as a suggested event on Facebook and looked fun so I made the arrangements! We did school from 8-12:30 and then attended a local UPaint pottery studio to work on a "Northern Lights bowl." Such fun! This is our 6th Field Trip of the yr. In the pictures above you can see the progress and finished product!! source for more info: uPaint Pottery Studio YOU CAN NOW CONNECT WITH US ON FACEBOOK HERE! : Pursuing the upward call | Facebook This is a public "personal blog" pg via Facebook to make it easier for readers to connect and share. Towards the end of our Hanukkah/winter break from work and school we took a FIELD TRIP to a Children's Museum (very interactive stations/centers for learning and play) The kids had a blast!! We do need to go back soon for a full day. This visit was only about 4 hours and it's just not enough time to see all the cool stuff and play till we drop. But we visited the: Dinosphere, upstairs over the dinosphere they have dinosaur pictures the kids can color and then scan and they become living cartoons on the wall for awhile. We visited the "Agriculture center" which teaches about: farming, the water cycle, (with a fun water table the kids can play at), diagnosing different diseases on crops, minerals, native animals to this state etc We also visited the Cultural exhibit where the country of focus for the moment is Greece. --And they visited the seasonal winter exhibit with lots of ice and snow related games. AND...drum roll..... everyone went down the 2 story winter slide you can see in the picture above and the carousel. Those are a must. However, it was an excellent way to ease back into learning time and close out our break! As with any location we visit for a field trip...here is the site if you would like more information: The Children's Museum of Indianapolis (childrensmuseum.org) YOU CAN NOW CONNECT WITH US ON FACEBOOK HERE! : Pursuing the upward call | Facebook This is a public "personal blog" pg via Facebook to make it easier for readers to connect and share. Phil 4:13 Hello scattered family and friends in Messiah! I hope you all are doing well. The Feast of Tabernacles is upon us again! One of our favorite Biblical Feasts! If you have been following our blog for any amount of time you know that Masterbooks is our foundation curriculum and we supplement as desired from there. One of the things my husband and I love about Masterbooks is the Biblical Feasts are covered in the curriculum and around the right time of the yr. for us to celebrate and teach the children. * The children are on "break" this week for Tabernacles- this was a worksheet from last week* This sample is from Masterbooks Language Lessons for a Living Education, level 3. As it explains, "Leviticus 23 is about the Feast of Tabernacles.--a tabernacle is a temporary place to live. it is like a tent except it is made from wood or branches. ---the first and eighth day of this feast is a Sabbath" "Jesus (Yeshua) was born during this feast week. Jesus (Yeshua) celebrated the Feast of tabernacles, and Zechariah 14:16 says that someday, all nations will celebrate the feast!" Anyone new to the Feast of Tabernacles, also known as Sukkot. Here is a simple explanation of it; It's a rehearsal for a future event where Yeshua will Tabernacle with us again, which simply means be with us.
The tent idea is a reminder we are in temporary dwelling places until we get to be with Yah permanently in the New Jerusalem, that will come down to earth. It also symbolizes the time when the Israelites were able to escape their slavery from the Egyptians and had to live in tents for 40 years. Its also a metaphor of how we escape and come out of the things of this World! Coming out of the traditions and the ways of man and religion. We hence Cross Over or Pass Over from the things of this World into the things and Ways of YHWH! This is where the word Hebrew comes from, one who has passed or crossed over! Enjoy your Tabernacle Time with Yah. He is our Banner, Covering, and Shelter. May He Overshadow us with His Glory and Presence during this set-apart Time. Be with us Always Yah in Spirit, until we are one with You permanently. Oh how we await this with great joy and anticipation. A quick google search can give you all kinds of ideas for how to decorate your own Sukkah or purchase one. The intent and motives of the heart are known by Yah and may He be with you. HalleluYah!! Have a blessed celebration rehearsal for the wedding feast to come. Do Bible things in Bible ways.... Follow the footsteps of the Master and KING. RELATED READING:

They are just resources, curriculum, etc that have blessed our family and may bless yours!* Hello scattered family and friends in Messiah! I hope you all are doing well. We recently went on a field trip to a local park that was hosting a Medieval Festival! This was used for historical education as a sort of "walk through live museum" so to speak.
The kids loved the activities and the shows ie: sword fights and such. BUT by far their favorite part was the opportunity with approval from me.... to participate in the: ax/knife throwing, and archery sessions. *with safety precautions of course* None the less it was a great time...and they are now interested in archery! It just so happens that a town about 20 minutes from us has an archery club. So this may be something we look into further. I always keep my eyes open for new events/activities on Facebook with local parks/recreation areas, and libraries for events like this. Next one I am looking into is an: International Festival in a few weeks. I'm not sure if we can make that one, but we may. If we do you know I'll save pictures to share! Living education is the best kind and it makes great memories~ and they got to see mom shoot some arrows, I hit the target board too. Wow, friends, I just need to exhale... do you ever feel that way? The past 6 weeks or so illness has swept through our family; wave after wave. From me taking about 2 weeks to recover and then 1 child, then another... Nothing unmanageable: low grade fevers, cough, congestion...and 1 instance of throwing up from a forceful bout of coughing.... We went to our family dr whom we love. She is primarily holistic in approach and advised what I had thought in the 1st place... time, and rest. Our school day typically starts around 8am. But, one of the blessings of homeschool is THAT flexibility. So the 2 that are sick have been able to sleep until they wake on their own which has been between 9am-10am. Our youngest was doing letter practice work about 2 days ago...and I said, "You look tired, you want to lay down and take a nap for a bit?" He said: "No, I'm fine...." I turned back to check on him and he was asleep. I covered him up and he just took about an hr nap. The "schedule" went out the window. We did school when they felt ok to do it. Some things got pushed to a different day, naps happened as needed, breaks abounded etc. This may not be a big deal to you....but for my personality learning to love flexibility is a learning curve. I can struggle with being regimented even when it's not needed. Because, I function best in an environment of "order." But YHWH is using this homeschool blessing to even teach me it's ok to "let go," embrace the freedom and love the children in their rest and through the tides of life as it ebbs and flows "out of order." This blessing is one I certainly do not take lightly. They would have no such liberty in a standard school setting public or private. This is the blessing of homeschooling them as YHWH has directed/convicted us. Among many benefits we have experienced.... As we roll into Yom Teruah/The Feast of Trumpets & Shabbat we are going to wade into that rest and simply enjoy the: time, celebration, memories, and rejuvenation. How are you with structure and flexibility in: life, relationships, or homeschool? For those who will be celebrating: HAPPY FEAST OF TRUMPETS/YOM TERUAH!!!! Hello friends and scattered family in Messiah! Well, one of our boys is taking Zoology this yr and the other is taking "Adventures on Planet Earth," and last wk in "Adventures on Earth," we learned about the food chain.... and Zoology is right up this alley. So this field trip seemed quite fitting. The Exotic Feline Rescue Center has rescued large cats from various unfortunate situations. Their individual stories can be read in the link above. The way the center is set up you can get very close to these majestic creatures. However, obviously; no touching, reaching, taunting or loud noises that may agitate them. There are tours at specific set times. We happened to go to the 1st one at 10 am. In which, the 2 male lions, were definitely vocal upon waking up. They took turns roaring back and forth. The tour guide said that a lion roar can be heard up to 5 miles away... I wonder if any nearby neighbors have become used to it. Although the center is on some 285 acres so they have plenty of land and isolation. However, the part accessible to tours is not nearly as large so don't expect a huge expanse on the tour. This was our 1st field trip of the year and the kids loved it! They enjoyed being so close to these beautiful animals and learning of their stories and a bit about their natural habitats and general facts. Last yr for our daughter's Zoology Field Trip we visited: Newport Aquarium Field Trip - Pursuing the upward call of God in Messiah Yeshua- Phil 3:14 Each of the children is going to pick their favorite wild cat and create a tri-fold board presentation for that animal. So the learning continues! I will do a post to show those later after they are done. Enjoy the photos! Until next time: May Adonai bless and keep you as you: press on pursuing the goal for the reward of the upward calling of God in Messiah Yeshua. Phil 4:13 *side note DISCLAIMER: I do not receive compensation from ANY of the resources I share or use. They are just resources, curriculum, etc that have blessed our family and may bless yours!* Hello friends and scattered family in Messiah! Wow, what an exciting time! We are getting festive in mood and decorations around the house. Our fellowship, family and, children will certainly enjoy this time together as we prep for The Feast of Trumpets this upcoming weekend! So much happened this past weekend and I have a ton of photos to upload for blog posts. BUT, Masterbooks, never fails to excite me every year with the timing of the Fall Feasts information in the curriculum right on time. So the examples you see above are from Masterbooks Language Lessons for a Living Education levels 3, and 5. (for 3rd and 5th grade respectively) These are for our 2 boys tomorrow! These examples ^^^^^^ are from Bible Pathway Adventures Fall Feast book. We use Bible Pathway books for Shabbat kids' lessons (for church) These pages were completed this past Shabbat 9/9/23. Scripture is incorporated into the very fabric of our lives. From: how we live, how we resolve conflict, how we discipline, how we educate, and how we as parents aim to honor YHWH in obedience to the Shema command.
It is not a few hours a day once a wk. Our culture is Bible Culture, which is YHWH's culture. Our Holy Days are His Holy Days, the Appointed Times/Moedim given as a "sign" of His covenant with His people. We live in this country and this world but we are not of it. We have crossed over and been grafted into the people of Yah, we are Hebrew. We are ambassadors here on a mission for our KING. HalleluYAH! The Day of Blowing / Trumpets — points to when the Messiah will appear in the heavens as a Bridegroom coming for His bride, the ekklesia -both native and grafted in belivers-. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 1 Corinthians 15:52) Masterbooks, our foundation curriculum also incorporates the Feasts into the Language curriculum which is a blessing. 2023: sunset 9/15-sunset 9/16 We annually celebrate in faith and hope the 'practice announcement, until He comes. It is a joyous occasion! In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you are to have a Shabbat rest, a memorial of blowing (shofar), a holy convocation. You are to do no regular work, and you are to present an offering made by fire to Adonai. (Leviticus 23:24-25 ) By His will we have been made holy through the offering of the body of Messiah Yeshua once for all. Indeed, every kohen stands day by day serving and offering the same sacrifices again and again, which can never take away sins. >>But on the other hand, when this One offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, He sat down at the right hand of God<< Hebrews 10:10-12 TLV

May 20th, we took our last "recorded Field Trip" to this Touch A Truck event where the kids were able to climb in and look at all types of trucks and farm equipment. They were able to talk to Fire Men, try on some of the gear, honk horns etc.
Lastly, we closed out the weekend with a family movie night as a reward for the kids reaching their goal of 50+ books completed for reading.
